According to authorities, a construction worker fell from scaffolding along the framework of an apartment building that was under construction. During his 30-foot plummet, the construction worker struck live power lines.

Officials said the lines the construction worker struck seriously injured him. The electric shock caused him to suffer severe burns. He was transported to a medical center for treatment.

How a workers’ compensation attorney may help

An injury-causing construction accident may lead to physical, emotional and financial distress, but a workers’ compensation attorney in North Carolina can help an injured construction worker seek the full amount of benefits to which he or she is entitled given the circumstances surrounding the accident. An attorney can help a worker file a workers’ compensation claim as soon as possible and collect evidence to support the claim (e.g., medical records, photos of the accident scene). The attorney can also help the client file an appeal if the claim is initially denied. The workers’ compensation attorney will strive to ensure that a client’s rights and best interests are protected during each step of this process.
