Construction site falls can easily occur due to defective ladders, improperly installed scaffolding or unprotected ledges. These falls sometimes lead to permanent injuries. A man in North Carolina recently suffered serious injuries in a construction site fall-related accident.

How the fall happened

The recent North Carolina incident occurred at about 9 a.m. on a Wednesday. Dozens of responders arrived at the construction site after the man fell. Firefighters reached the man using a crane within half an hour and brought him to safety.

Officials transported the man by ambulance to a local hospital. He received treatment for serious injuries. The reason for the fall was not reported.

How an attorney can help

Construction site workers injured on the job would be wise to contact a workers’ compensation attorney immediately. An attorney can review an injured worker’s case and help the client prepare and submit a claim for benefits. The attorney will also explain the employee’s rights and guide him or her through the process of filing a claim. This may include gathering medical records to support the claim by showing the scope of the worker’s injuries.

If the worker’s claim is denied initially, his or her attorney can help appeal the denial. If this appeal is not successful and circumstances warrant it, the attorney may help the worker file a lawsuit against the employer and represent him or her in court. The attorney will strive to help his or her client receive the full benefit amount to which he or she is entitled in North Carolina.
