Scaffolding may be a common fixture on many construction project sites, as similar types of equipment might prove an integral component of performing project tasks at heights. Unfortunately, working on scaffolding can prove somewhat dangerous at times. Should such equipment collapse, the outcome could pose a significant threat to the health of workers in North Carolina. Reports indicate that three workers were injured during a recent construction accident involving a scaffolding collapse.

The incident reportedly occurred on a recent Thursday as construction crews were performing tasks on a project at a local hospital. Officials have advised that they were working on top of scaffolding when the apparatus collapsed. Reports state that several witnesses who live near the hospital say they could hear the crash of the collapse from inside their homes.

Upon arriving at the scene, emergency responders said they were able to locate and rescue all three injured workers from the scene and transport them to the hospital for medical care. While officials have advised that an investigation into the incident has been initiated, no further information was provided as to what might have caused it to occur. Regardless of how it happens, accidents of this nature can carry dire ramifications that could leave those involved facing a long road to recovery.

The road to recovery

Construction accidents involving scaffolding collapses continue to affect the lives of many workers. While suffering severe injuries in such an incident can be harrowing enough as is, the financial fallout of facing high medical costs and a loss of wages while out of work could also place a substantial strain on a person’s life. When facing similar hardships, a person in North Carolina could consider speaking with an attorney for advice on all his or her available options for aid and assistance in preparing for every step of the workers’ compensation insurance system process.
